Scotty Sapiro/China 1942-1945/Prints For Sale
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Scotty Sapiro joined the Army Air Corps in 1940 and received training as an aerial combat photographer. Between 1942-1945 (when World War II ended) he served in the CBI Theater (China, Burma & India) with the 14th Air Force “Flying Tigers” under General Claire Chennault. During his years stationed in China he grew to love the people and the picturesque countryside. At various times he was stationed in Guelin, Kunming, Chengdu and Suichuan, where every free moment was spent roaming the countryside in an Army jeep recording people and places with his Army-issue 4x5 Speed Graphic camera.
